Classroom Reveal ... FINALLY!

Ok, we have now officially been in school for 2 weeks! And I am finally ready to reveal my classroom pics to the Blogger World!
My school is fairly new, just recently opened in 2013 with just one Prek and two Kindergarten classrooms, with additional grades and classrooms added each year. My Kindergarten classroom was added this school year to make four K classrooms. The growth is happening fast!

So, with that being said, I wasn't working with much, since it is a new K classroom.

I currently have 18 kids and my room is the perfect for the size!
I went with a Chalkboard theme because my classroom has a lot of white space and I knew black and bold colors would stand out!
It is not 100% yet. I wish I had more furniture, but I know as the year moves along, I will find things here and there to add to the classroom. But for now, this is what it looks like!

It took alot of work to start from scratch again, but this is my Kindergarten classroom, and I LOVE it! As time passes, I know I will tweak the set up of the centers and the arrangement of the tables several times! (Hell, I already have done so about 3 times already in the past 2 weeks!)
But at least for the next few weeks,
it will be a work in progress!

Classroom Reveal -- Finally!

Well, we are off and running! The year has gotten off to a great start! In my last post, I was working on some self learning about what Montessori is all about. For a good part of the summer, after we settled into California, I have been working in the school and immersing myself into the Montessori classroom and have been observing the primary classroom teacher, I have been able to get a better idea of how each set of materials serves a purpose and how each one scaffolds onto the next set of skills. It does not directly relate to my role as the Spanish teacher, but it has been very useful to learn, as I wanted my classroom set up to mirror the main Montessori classroom.
Anyhow, the school year has begun... and that is where my role as the Spanish Teacher begins!!
Below, are the "before" pictures of the classroom...before I put my own little touches on it and tried my best to make it my own!
And here are the "after" pictures:
I tried to keep it simple. yet cute, and this is how it all came out:

It is small, it is cute and I LOVE it!
Every day, Monday through Thursday, I teach a small group of 11 children and I have each group for an hour an a half each day. The room is a perfect size to have a small circle, do an small group table activity, read a story and then some engage in some individual work time.
Being the Spanish Teacher is only one of my roles. You will come to see that I also step up into other roles throughout the day and week!

Come And Take A Peek Inside My Classroom!

The school year is off to a GREAT start for me and I am hoping that the same is true for everyone! I don't mean to brag... but I have such a wonderful class this year! It could very well be that the reason for this is that I have 17 out of the 18 allotted spaces filled...because we all know how one child can change up a group dynamic really quickly and easily.
But after just four days with my new preschool munchkins, I have ended each day with a smile. Yes, there are a few children who need that extra reminder or a small verbal reprimand, but it really isn't that bad. Compared to the class that I had the last time I was in a classroom...these kids are a dream! Let's hope that I am not speaking too soon!! I really don't see too much changing in the coming weeks though, as most of them follow directions, seem willing to do activities and are eager to see what things I bring out to the tables for them to work or play with. I am going to consider myself a little lucky this year.
Anyhow, I realized that I never got around to sharing classroom pics!  (*gasp*)
It is a small, cozy preschool classroom that, in my opinon, needs a little bit more of my own touch and probably some more furniture, as a few of my centers are going to have to be tabletop, rotating type centers. The fact that I only had about 4 days to get it all cleaned up and ready wasn't helpful in doing everything that I had in mind, but whatever. It is all a work in progress!
So, take a peek at my cozy classroom, decked out with a Jungle theme.

due to the fact that this is a private preschool and some decisions are not mine to make.)
